In 2006 new regulations were put in place by the UK Government to restrict the sale of replica weapons in order to prevent them from falling into the hands of those who would use them for illegal purposes.

UKARA (United Kingdom Airsoft Retailers Association) was formed in response to the ‘Violent Crime Reduction’ Act (VCRA), which specified that to purchase a realistic looking firearm (RIF) the Individual must have a reason, or defence, for purchasing it. If you have a valid defence you can purchase a Realistic Airsoft Rifle, if not the weapon must be two toned (more than 50% of the gun must be sprayed green, red, or blue etc). Weapons can only be sold to those over the age of 18.

Defences which we accept at Pools Surplus Stores are as follows:

  • UKARA Membership
  • Part of a re-enactment society
  • TV/Film Production
  • British Airsoft Club (BAC)
  • Museum Curator
