The British Army DPM Long Back Bergen is a genuine military-surplus rucksack built for carrying substantial loads during field exercises, deployments and extended periods outdoors. Part of the classic British Army PLCE load-carrying system, it combines rugged military construction with a large main compartment, supportive carrying system and the instantly recognisable Woodland DPM camouflage pattern.
The Long Back version is designed for users with a longer torso, providing an extended back profile that helps position the load more comfortably across the shoulders, back and hips. This makes it particularly well suited to taller users and anyone who finds the standard short-back Bergen too compact.
Constructed from tough military-grade fabric, the Bergen was designed to withstand demanding field use, repeated loading and harsh outdoor conditions. Its reinforced build makes it an excellent choice for wild camping, bushcraft, hiking, military collecting, festivals, cadet activities and carrying bulky equipment.
A large top-loading main compartment provides substantial room for clothing, sleeping equipment, cooking kit and other outdoor essentials. The extendable inner section features a drawcord closure, allowing the contents to be secured before the lid is fastened over the top.
The Bergen also incorporates zipped storage within the lid for smaller equipment that needs to remain accessible. This is useful for items such as maps, gloves, torches, first aid equipment and other smaller essentials.
Padded adjustable shoulder straps help distribute heavier loads, while the adjustable padded waist belt transfers some of the weight onto the hips. An internal aluminium frame provides additional structure and support when the Bergen is heavily loaded.
Zips positioned on either side of the Bergen allow compatible British Army PLCE side pouches to be attached. Standard side pouches provide approximately 10 litres of additional storage each and can also be combined with a compatible yoke to create a separate 20-litre daysack.

The Woodland DPM camouflage pattern gives the Bergen its classic British Army appearance and makes it particularly desirable for military collectors as well as customers looking for genuine, field-proven surplus equipment.
These Bergens are genuine British Army surplus supplied in Grade 1 used condition.
They have previously been issued and used during military service but remain fully functional and suitable for continued use.

Grade 1 Bergens should remain serviceable, with the main straps, buckles and carrying system functioning correctly. They should not be expected to look new or unissued.
These signs of previous use are normal for genuine military surplus and add to the authentic character of each Bergen.
