Vintage British Army WW2 1940 Dated MKII No. 2C Steel Helmet
An original Second World War British Mk II No.2C steel helmet, commonly known as the Brodie or "Tommy" helmet, dating from 1940.
This is a genuine wartime example of the No.2C specification, readily identifiable by the distinctive three holes punched into the brim beside the chinstrap mounting points.
These holes were deliberately applied to identify No.2C helmets, which were manufactured to a lower ballistic specification than standard front-line Mk II helmets. As a result, this type became particularly associated with the Home Guard, Civil Defence and other Home Front organisations during the Second World War.
The helmet retains its original-style wartime liner, clearly marked TTC, identifying the manufacturer as Teddy Toy Company Ltd of Dagenham, one of the companies contracted to manufacture helmet liners during the Second World War.
The liner is dated 1940 and marked as a size 7¼, making this a particularly interesting and highly displayable piece of genuine British wartime equipment.
Condition
This is an original item dating from the Second World War and should be expected to show age-related wear, marks, scratches, paint loss, oxidation, discolouration and other signs associated with its approximately 85 years of age, previous use and storage.
No attempt has been made to present this as a newly manufactured or reproduction item. Its age, wear and patina form part of the character and history of the piece.
