DESCRIPTION

Genuine British Army 1951-Pattern Dismounted Greatcoat; Size 4; in good used condition.

Manufactured in 1954 by Tower Clothing for the British Army; this coat was issued to a trooper of the 5th Dragoon Guards regiment.

This coat is in good condition for its age with signs of light wear as a result of general use. The coat has some very small holes and evidence of light insect damage shown in photographs.

This coat has been acquired from a theatre company's costume department and has been subjected to small repairs and reinforcements through the years. Many of the buttons on this coat are not the original 5th Dragoon Gards buttons but later replacements using assorted military-style buttons.

Actual sizes of the garment:

Armpit to Armpit measurement = 20" (38" chest)

Armpit to Wrist measurement = 16"

Collar to Waist measurement = 16"

Collar to Hem measurement = 42"

Fitting:

This garment is labelled Size 4 in the British Army Clothing System and is designed to fit individuals between 5'5" to 5'6" in height, with a chest circumference of 38" to 39".
