Original German Army Post-War Zeltbahn Amoebatarn Zelt-tarnmuster Poncho Shelter

Rare original German Army (Bundeswehr) Zeltbahn Shelter Half, in reversible 'amoebatarn' camo, in excellent used condition.

Manufactured in the 1950s for the German Army following the Second World War. In the early years of the Bundeswehr, 'Zelt-tarnmuster' or 'amoebatarn' camouflage was created by combining Wehrmacht and SS camouflage designs to form two unique camo patterns: Sommer / Summer camo and Herbst / Autumn camo, permitting soldiers to adapt their shelter according to the season and surroundings.

These shelters were the only genuine issue article to use Bundeswehr Amoebatarn and, with many shelters being cut up and repurposed into custom-made smocks or helmet covers, the original, unaltered shelter is becoming a rare relic of post-war Germany.

This shelter is in good condition for its age and shows signs of light use typical of used military equipment - the shelter has lost a small handful of original buttons and eyelets but the majority remain. The shelter half has some worn patches and has been repaired with a strip of modern Flecktarn fabric in one place. The shelter has no, cuts, tears, stains, or alterations to the size or shape of the fabric. Both sides of the camouflage fabric remain vibrant, with very little fading or discolouration.
